WEDDING FAVORS

When it comes to wedding favors, it can be hard to think of something that’s unique to your special day. Whether you just want a small memento for your guests to keep or maybe something sweet to eat, it’s always great to send your guests off with a small gift to thank them for celebrating with you. Here’s some that we think are great ideas!

1. Cake pops or cookies to go… Something edible is always a plus!

2. Luggage tags can be very useful for far travelers

3. A jar of jam, for helping spread the love

4. Mini alcohol bottles or champagne. They can be significant to where your wedding is or where you are traveling on your honeymoon. Limoncello is great for Italy and Tequila is perfect for Mexico.

5. Beers that you and your special someone brewed together

7. Small drink or spice bottle from local store or restaurant…for example, salsa, hot sauce, olive oil, etc.

Many of these items can double as a place card as well. Impress can make the stickers, labels and tags for all of these items!

AVOIDING THE MOST COMMON WEDDING INVITATION MISTAKE

1. Always use real stamps—printed postage is tacky

2. Don’t include zip codes on any printed addresses on the invite—it is only okay to do this on envelopes that will be mailed out

3. Spell out the date and time

4. Don’t use the word “and” in the date on your invite—it should read: Two Thousand Sixteen

5. Don’t use any abbreviations for states, road types, etc.—the only exceptions are for Mr., Mrs., and Ms.

6. Indicate how to mark the entrée on the RSVP card

7. Make sure you include stamps on the reply envelopes—you don’t want to make your guests pay for postage

8. Weigh a sample invite before purchasing postage in order to avoid buying either too much or too little postage

9. Use an envelope moistener to seal your envelopes—they save a lot of time and are much easier than licking every envelope

10. Don’t put too much information on the invite—keep it clean and clutter free and use detail and accommodation cards for information that won’t fit on your invite

11. Don’t assume people will check your wedding website—if there is important information your guests need to know, make sure it is included in your mailed out invite

12. If you have enough time, send Save The Date cards six to twelve months before the wedding and invitations six to eight weeks before the wedding

SPRING 2016 COLOR TRENDS

Below is a picture of the Pantone Top 10 Colors for 2016.  I have noticed some of these colors trending myself as designing for 2016 weddings, especially the blue hues.  I pieced some palettes together for those undecided or maybe having a difficult time envisioning some of these colors for a wedding palette.    They all can be used in different ways and very pretty, just depends if you are going for a soft and calm feel or more of a bright and loud vibe. 

The Rose Quartz color seems to be coming up as accents in many spring and summer weddings.  Many blues are being paired with other shades of blue or silver and grays.  I haven’t seen much bright green yet but I think the color Green Flash can be very nice if using deeper tones to give some contrast - especially in the florals and greenery.   Still hoping for some yellow somewhere!  I have not designed with yellow for a wedding yet and it could be very beautiful for a spring and cheery day!

Be thinking about these colors as you shop for clothing, accessories and home goods in the next few months!

SEATING ARRANGEMENTS

Creating a seating arrangement list that is not only easy to navigate but also aesthetically pleasing can be difficult and overwhelming. To help ease this process, here are our top ten ideas.

1. Everything should be clearly labeled and legible 

2. Try to keep it alphabetical so people know how to navigate the list and don’t have to search the whole chart looking for their name

3. When your guest list isn’t too long, you can organize the chart by table number because guests wont have to search through as many names to find theirs

4. Have something guests can take with them (as a memento or to help them remember their table number)

5. Hand written is a classy choice

6. Create an arrangement that follows your theme whether that be by color, style, etc.

Beach Weddings

 

Yes, I know, my timing is a little off as summer comes to a close…but it’s 5 o’clock somewhere and someone is getting married on the beach as we speak!  It wouldn’t be a vacation if I wasn’t working in some capacity, so here I am, thinking about beach weddings while at the beach.  So many components but I went the simple and semi-casual route.  I will start with signage, move onto programs and finish with décor and centerpieces. 

Can I just say that I love these catchy phrase signs that greet guests on the beach for the ceremony!  Perfect for ushers and/or those distributing programs to stand next to and remind guests to take off their shoes…who doesn’t love their toes in the sand!

We have all seen the “fan” programs for outdoor or beach weddings, brilliant idea if I do say so myself, especially if the ceremony is prior to the sun setting.  You can jazz these up a bit with some tool, ribbon, twine, seashells, etc. 

 Since the ocean is plenty of décor and backdrop for a beach ceremony you don’t need a whole lot but I would do something simple on the chairs or down the aisle.  It can be with starfish like the image shown or flowers, maybe the nautical route with boating paraphernalia or just pretty bows.  Enough to be noticed but not a ton of work, just something that doesn’t take away from the setting. 

Centerpieces can be fun, so many options here! Seashells and candles, water and/or sand can be incorporated, coral, seaglass, floral arrangements, wood, lanterns and the list continues…
